Mark Manger, the inventor of the GrabOpener, used a stick & screw, two-handed bottle opener while stationed in Ghana with the Peace Corps. Following the Peace Corps, Mark pursued his artistic passion with a successful career as a photographer, capturing editorial and commercial images for his clients. Outside of photography his creativity led to a string of inventions, including a unique new beer one-handed bottle and can opener. While playing with ideas, Mark reminisced about his Peace Corps days, and thought of the 2 handed, stick and screw beer openers he used in Africa, and imagined a way to make function unlike any other tool. The GrabOpener was born.
Understanding the allure of the old fashioned magnetic bottle opener on the fridge, Mark took the GrabOpener design one step further, strategically placing a magnet parallel to the GrabOpener’s hook, fulfilling the jobs of centering the hook automatically, catching the cap when opening a bottle, and attaching it to a metal surface like a refrigerator or tool chest. Three versions are available, including: the original, scratch-resistant, and a limited edition keychain version. All Grabopeners are designed to be the easy way to open beer bottle, made from Anodized Aluminum and have a magnet for cap recovery and easy storage (except the keychain Grabopener which is Stainless Steel and does not have a magnet, to protect magnetic strips on credit cards and transit cards).
